Most courses at Leibniz Universität Hannover are held in German. The language of communication at the institutes, in the canteen and the laboratories is also usually German; and when you go shopping, visit the doctor or take part in leisure activities, you will also have to – or want to – speak in German. At least you need to prove a certain level of German langugae knowledge if you want to study. For application you need to prove German knowledge on level B1. The final enrollment is possible after passing a DSH-Test or a TestDaF examination on level C1.
German courses for refugees are offered by the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Special Languages.
We offer German intensive language courses primarily for those who want to study at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. Our aim is to prepare you for the officially recognised DSH-exam (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) and thus give you the best headstart for a successful career at university. These courses are free of charge.
