Leibniz Universität Hannover uses the open-source software Piwik for statistical analysis.
The software developers are in close contact with the Independent Regional Centre for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD).This means that they implement data protection rules and regulations so that Piwik can be used in accordance with German jurisdiction, in compliance with data protection laws and in a legally secure way.

Where internet services allow for the entry of personal or business data (E-mail addresses, names, addresses), disclosing this data is on an expressly voluntary basis on the part of the user. Using and paying for all services offered is - as far as this is technically possible and reasonable - granted also without disclosure of such data or through the use of anonymised data or a pseudonym. The use by third parties of contact data published in the imprint or similar, such as postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses, for transmitting not specifically requested information is not allowed. We expressly reserve the right to take legal steps against the senders of so-called spam mails which violate this prohibition.
